Sister
Organizations:
UCC believes that service works best when a TEAM
of committed individuals and groups combine their passion, dedication,
resources, and energy TOGETHER. We work closely with our sister
organizations on a myriad of community-related causes and issues,
because we firmly believe that the essence of being truly civically-minded
servants is about seeing a need and meeting it. So, please, while
you are supporting the Utah Cancer Crusaders, remember to also give
support to our incredible sister organizations. They are doing PHENENOMAL
work, and we salute them.

HOPE
FOR TOMORROW: Our
long time friend Carly Lynne Tooke is pictured here with Olene
S. Walker, the former Governor of Utah. Carly has created a
program called “It’s
Okay, How I Feel Today,” which
teaches children how to effectively communicate and understand
their emotions. Inspired by her cousin, Daniel, whom she lost
to suicide, Carly tenaciously works on behalf of Childhood
Mental Health Awareness issues. In fact, her program has been
officially adopted by the National Alliance for the Mentally
Ill. Carly plans to take her work onward and upward while serving
a year-long tenure as Miss Utah Valley State College 2004-2005.
She is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Progression Academy of
Dance in American Fork, Utah.

FOR
A BRIGHTER TOMORROW: Our awe-inspiring friend David Ssejinja
is pictured here with Yolanda King, daughter of civil rights activist
Martin Luther King Jr. After losing his parents during civil war
in Uganda, Africa, David came to America with a dream of establishing
a foundation that would
bring much needed aid and hope to the children of his native country.
And his dream came true! In less than a year since he established
The Ssejinja Children’s Foundation, David has been able to
raise enough funds to build the first certified elementary school
Uganda, The Ssejinja Children’s Foundation has also established
a program where people here in the United States can sponsor orphan
children who are victims of civil war violence and HIV/AIDS. To
